The Journalists Accreditation Board [JAB] has received a request from the Tanzania Bloggers Network [TBN] to provide training to its more than 200 members on the Media Services Act, Journalism Ethics, and the importance of obtaining accreditation.
The request was made today, July 16, 2026, by the Chairman of the Tanzania Bloggers Network, Mr. Beda Msimbe, during a meeting with JAB's Acting Director General, Advocate Patrick Kipangula, held at the Board's offices in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking after the meeting, Advocate Kipangula said the Board had received the request and was ready to collaborate with the Network in equipping bloggers with a comprehensive understanding of the Media Services Act, professional ethics, and the importance of obtaining accreditation.
He said the training would begin with accredited bloggers to strengthen their professionalism and understanding of their professional responsibilities before being extended to those who have not yet obtained accreditation.
"Those who are not accredited will be guided on the legal requirements for obtaining accreditation, including the importance of meeting the qualifications stipulated under the Media Services Act.
"Those who do not meet the required qualifications will be advised to further their education so that they can fulfill the criteria for accreditation," said Advocate Kipangula.
On his part, the Chairman of the Tanzania Bloggers Network, Mr. Beda Msimbe, said the training would enable the Network's members to carry out their responsibilities in compliance with the law,
"Professional ethics, and journalistic standards, while also contributing effectively to informing the public and promoting Tanzania through reporting on development initiatives being implemented across various sectors".
He added that the collaboration between the Network and JAB would help build the capacity of bloggers and strengthen their contribution to Tanzania's media sector.
