The heart also needs rest and moments of joy. After a difficult journey marked by pain from illness and cancer treatment both for those who have been affected and those still living with the disease survivors have taken time to celebrate life and give themselves a moment of happiness.

Early in the morning, they had already gathered at the offices of the Shujaa Cancer Foundation located in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam, ready to begin their journey to Kijiji Beach in Kigamboni.

Everyone wore bright, joyful expressions, looking forward to moments of happiness and meaningful interactions with one another.

As you know, for any outing to be truly enjoyable, music is a must. Various games, delicious food, and of course drinks were all part of the day nothing was left out.

June 7 of every year marks World Cancer Survivors Day. According to SCF Director Gloria Kida, the day is used to reflect on important issues while also honoring those who have passed away.

Beyond celebration, the day also serves as an opportunity to strengthen understanding between cancer survivors and newly diagnosed patients, giving them a chance to share experiences that build renewed hope for life.

It is also a crucial moment to reduce fear and stigma surrounding cancer in society, by openly showing that the disease can be treated and that life can continue with renewed strength after treatment.

Overall, the event goes beyond entertainment it is a journey of hope, unity, and proof that after the challenges of cancer, there is still life, joy, and new dreams.
