Financial freedom is among the key agendas being prioritized across various sectors today. It's an important matter, as individuals are provided with essential knowledge that can help them achieve economic independence.
Due to its significance, members of the Tanzania Media Women’s Association [TAMWA] have been equipped with foundational understanding of financial freedom.
This took place on the first day of TAMWA’s General Meeting, held at its headquarters in Sinza Mori, Dar es Salaam. In addition, the meeting is also being conducted virtually through the Zoom platform.
Participants were advised to seek accurate information about various institutions involved in investment funds and take steps toward starting investments.
It was also emphasized that joining social security funds is crucial, as they provide significant support when individuals face various life challenges.
“National Social Security Fund (NSSF) offers two types of benefits long-term and short-term.
"We have also made improvements, especially for our members when they reach retirement age,” said NSSF Benefits Officer, Gloria Mackanja, while presenting.
“The Workers Compensation Fund (WCF) provides various benefits, including dependency benefits, as well as permanent and temporary disability benefits,” noted Amri Kombo, Head of Operations and Evaluation at WCF.
He further explained that TAMWA members, institutions, and companies should join the fund in order to benefit from its services.
A Marketing Officer from UTT AMIS, Gosbat Rutasikala, emphasized that there are significant advantages to investing with the institution, including the safety of one’s funds.
“We have six funds. You can even invest for your children through UTT, and the funds will generate returns,” he said.
Meanwhile, a Public Relations Officer from Orbit Securities encouraged female journalists not to be left behind in stock market investments.
“We advise you to develop a habit and culture of investing gradually, considering the fluctuations in the stock market,” he said.
Earlier, while opening the meeting, TAMWA Chairperson, Dr. Kaanaeli Kaale, urged journalists to produce impactful stories that contribute to community development.
This year’s TAMWA General Meeting is being held over two days, April 17 and 18, during which members will also officially adopt a new constitution.
