Veronica Mrema's excellence in reporting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Tanzania has been recognized by the Tanzania NCD Alliance (TANCDA).

This recognition was part of TANCDA’s 10th-anniversary celebrations held at Coco Beach on November 30, 2024.

The event included a fitness walk that started at Coco Beach, crossed the Tanzanite Bridge, reached the Aga Khan junction, and returned to Coco Beach.

The certificate was presented to her by the Assistant Director of Non-Communicable Diseases, Mental Health, and Accidents from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Omary Ubuguyu, who graced the occasion.

"We acknowledge the significant role played by journalists in covering issues related to Non-Communicable Diseases in the country," said Dr. Ubuguyu.Veronica is among the journalists directly involved in educating the public about NCDs, which include heart diseases, kidney diseases, cancer, diabetes, stroke, road traffic injuries, hypertension, sickle cell disease, mental illnesses and other related conditions.

She has also been a strong advocate for raising awareness about NCDs, promoting behavioral change within communities, and influencing health policy improvements in Tanzania for many years.

In addition to receiving the certificate, Veronica is the first Tanzanian to win the prestigious EAMNA Award, which recognizes outstanding journalists in East Africa reporting on NCDs in their communities. This award was launched by the East Africa NCD Alliance (EANCDA).

"I thank God for this special recognition, and I promise to continue providing our readers at M24 TANZANIA MEDIA with high-quality news and articles," she said.
