An official invitation has been extended to M24 TANZANIA Media to participate in the 5th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance [AMR].

The conference is scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from December 6 to 8, 2026. The invitation has been extended on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The conference aims to strengthen global action to address the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.

Veronica Mrema, through the M24 TANZANIA platform, has published news reports and articles focusing on AMR and is expected to be among the journalists attending the conference.

The conference comes at a time when AMR continues to pose a global challenge requiring coordinated action across different sectors.

The Abuja conference will adopt a One Health approach, bringing together human, animal, plant and environmental health perspectives in efforts to address the threat. The conference will take place on December 6 to 8, this year.

M24 TANZANIA has continued to report on issues related to AMR, including inappropriate medicine use, misuse of prescription medicines with addictive properties, and the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance.

M24 TANZANIA’s news reports and articles on AMR can be accessed in greater detail through its AMR archive: M24 Tanzania AMR Reports and Articles

M24 TANZANIA has also continued to highlight the importance of responsible medicine use and the role of medicine regulation in reducing risks that may contribute to antimicrobial resistance.

The conference is expected to bring together government leaders, health professionals, researchers, civil society organisations, the private sector, media representatives and other stakeholders from around the world to discuss actions to accelerate the implementation of global commitments to address AMR.
