Investment in the manufacturing of medical products including medicines, vaccines, medical devices and diagnostics within Tanzania continues to receive strong backing from the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA).
Tanzania is participating in the International Exhibition and Conference for the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Vaccine and Diagnostics Industries (CPHI), taking place in Milan, Italy, from October 6–8, 2026.
TMDA officials are attending the event, which has opened important opportunities for Tanzania to engage with major investors and key stakeholders in the global medical products industry.
The main objective is to attract investment and promote the local manufacturing of medical products in the country.
Under the umbrella of the Pharmaceutical Industries Acceleration Taskforce (PIAT), the Tanzanian delegation is being led by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Emmanuel Tayari.
The initiative supports the implementation of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050 by increasing local production and reducing dependence on imported medical products, while strengthening the availability of quality and safe medical products for public health.
