A new push to take accurate social security information to more Tanzanians is bringing the Public Service Social Security Fund [PSSSF] and the Tanzania Bloggers Network [TBN] together to explore a strategic partnership through digital media.
Earlier today, at the TBN headquarters in Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam, PSSSF officials paid a visit and held discussions with the TBN leadership on the best ways to establish a strategic partnership.
The discussions focused on building a mutually beneficial partnership, with emphasis on strengthening sectoral relations in media-related matters.
They also focused on public education and the dissemination of accurate knowledge about pension schemes and investment in the country.
The Chairman of TBN, Beda Msimbe, expressed the Network's readiness to stand firmly as a platform for providing education and disseminating accurate knowledge to the public, particularly through digital platforms.
However, he stressed that, in order to achieve these objectives more effectively, TBN members should first be provided with comprehensive and adequate training on the Fund's activities and operations.
The partnership is expected to open a new chapter in the use of online media platforms to deliver social security education to more citizens across the country.
The head of the delegation from PSSSF, Abdul Njaidi, said the visit aimed to build closer relations with stakeholders in the media sector as well as provide education to the public.
He assured the TBN leaders that all requests and issues raised during the meeting would be addressed.
"This new partnership aims to ensure that citizens gain a broader and accurate understanding of pension matters and investments undertaken by PSSSF."
TBN Trustee, Issa Michuzi, who participated in the meeting, said the Network, which has a long-standing history, takes pride in its professionalism and high level of efficiency.
He said TBN exists to ensure that Tanzania is well represented in the digital space in order to further stimulate and expand the country's development agenda.
TBN Secretary, Rahel Pallangyo, added: "The Network is ready to provide its skilled journalists and utilize its various platforms to ensure that citizens receive accurate information
"and reliable information that will enable citizens and development stakeholders to effectively fulfill their responsibilities," she emphasized.
During the meeting, the PSSSF delegation, led by Abdul Njaidi, included other officials, namely Regina Kumba, Grayson Mgunda, and Doreen Lyimo.
Representing TBN were Chairman Beda Msimbe, Secretary Rahel Pallangyo, Communications Specialist Cathbert Kajuna, and TBN Trustee Issa Michuzi.
