Go Digital: To safeguard your retirement benefits, retirees urged

Tanga Regional Commissioner, Ambassador Dr. Batilda Burian, has urged retirees to protect their benefits from fraudsters, while commending the Public Service Social Security Fund [PSSSF] for promoting the use of digital systems that are restoring dignity and smiles to retirees.

Opening a PSSSF seminar for employers held in Tanga City, which brought together 120 Human Resources and Administration Officers from various government institutions.

Ambassador Dr. Batilda said the improvements are in line with directives from President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to provide quality, fast and seamless services.

“I would like to commend PSSSF for this step, which enables benefits to be paid promptly,” she said.

The PSSSF North Eastern Zone Manager, Mr. Kwame Temu, urged employers to submit information on new employees within 30 days so that they can be registered early, and encouraged employees to make full use of electronic systems.

For her part, the Tanga Regional PSSSF Officer in Charge, Ms. Hanim Babika, urged employers to address challenges arising from conflicting information and ensure that contract employees are registered.

Giving his testimony, Tanga Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr. Rashid Mchatta, said the education provided by PSSSF has significantly changed the lives of current retirees, as they leave public service with confidence and a broader understanding of investment opportunities.

“When my secretary retired, he came to my office very happy, telling me only about investment opportunities after receiving training from PSSSF,” said the Regional Administrative Secretary.

PSSSF continues to urge members and retirees across the country to use its official electronic systems to access services more quickly, transparently and securely through the PSSSF Member Portal and PSSSF Kiganjani.
